On October 16th, we participated as a vendor at the 6th annual Fiesta Evansville at Wesselman park. The Fiesta is a beautiful celebration of the Latin American culture and the influence they’re having on the Tri-state community. Expected attendance for the day was 5,000.
Fiesta Evansville, began 6 years ago out of an idea that Abraham Brown, who serves as the chairman of Mayor Winnecke’s Latino Advisory Team, had while sitting in the Mayor’s office discussing the need to bring more awareness to our community of the Latino community. With a few hundred gathering the first year inside the main shelter house on the Wessleman Park grounds, the event has grown to include 125 vendor booths, entertainers from all over the Midwest and a few thousand attendees. According to Abraham Brown, “We have people (in this city) from Venezuela, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, all 20 other Latino countries.”
