Built Environment
Safe neighborhoods, complete streets, good urban design, and open space support physical activity as part of everyday life for all ages.
The strategies related to the built environment include:
Strategy 1:
Develop a comprehensive transportation policy that promotes active travel and includes Complete Streets principles.
Strategy 2:
Provide education regarding the choices we have for our transportation network, land use patterns, and lifestyles.
Strategy 3:
Apply smart growth principles to decisions related to development and planning.
Strategy 4:
Ensure adequate public green space will be available to all residents.
Strategy 5:
Provide a supply of safe, affordable, and aesthetically pleasing housing with a variety of housing types in safe, walkable neighborhoods within easy access to mass transit, schools, workplaces, parks and shopping.
